Holidays are fun or may be NOT :)
Holidays Are Fun
School holidays are fun for more than half of the involved people (other halves comprise parents). Parents crave for their time and peace of mind and kids, being full of energy and ideas need time and attention.
Summer holidays keep kids away from learning and they ‘avoid’ studying and ‘enjoy’ playing. Toys are best way to teach kids concepts of science and mathematics.
Does your child like dinosaurs ? Or space and astronomy ? Or want to be a doctor ? Does renewable energy fascinates him/her ? Let us make learning fun for our children.
Loved the little illustration at the top! So funny!
True, children learn a lot from their playtime. As a parent, I want to let playtime be a time of learning useful skills!
I agree, I always try to make learning fun for my kids. They do love dinosaurs so we have some plastic ones
I am a huge advocate of hands on learning! Kids learn best by visuals and touch! Games and activities are great things to during school holidays!
I totally agree! Gotta do stuff with the kids to help them learn! Such a great reminder!
We try to make learning fun for our kids. We also follow through on checking the work/homework they do, showing that we care about what they are doing in school
I don’t have children yet, but your post is informative, it will be helpful in the future , thanks you for sharing
I agree that we need to relate to our kids in the learning sphere. I know summers kids “take a break,” but as a librarian I guess I believe learning should happen maybe through fun ways even in those summer down times.
I remember my mom used to have us do math and grammar worksheets during the summer holidays so we could keep learning even when school was out. I used to hate it but now I see the value in continuing to learn during the holidays
My kid loves cooking and learning about cooking! During holidays or when we have extra time we cook together!
Kids definitely learn better when they can have fun doing it! I know mine certainly do!
I always try to make homework time fun for my son. Works most of the time. I find that teaching him in a fun way is more effective than just studying in a boring way. Pictures, drawing and fun activities help a lot.
The only child in my life now is my granddaughter, and she would totally enjoy what you have described.
Agree! I really think hands on learning is such an effective tool for kids to learn. What better way to learn something than by trying it yourself?
When I was a kid learning was never fun. Its great how educational philosophy has changed.
