Before I got my microscope, I used to spend a lot of time watching TV. It was fun, but honestly, I got bored easily and didn’t really learn anything new. My parents kept telling me to try something different… but nothing really interested me.
Then I got a microscope from Switched On Kids—and things changed. At first, I didn’t think it would be that exciting. But when I looked at my first slide (an onion peel), I was shocked. It didn’t look anything like what I saw with my eyes. It was like discovering a whole new world!
After that, I started exploring everything I could:
- Leaves from the garden
- Drops of water
- Tiny bits of food
I kept asking questions like:
- Why do things look different under the microscope?
- Are there tiny living things in water?
- How do plants actually grow?
It made me feel like a real scientist.
The best part is, I don’t feel like I’m “studying” anymore. I’m just exploring and learning at the same time. I even started understanding my science lessons better at school because I had already seen some of these things myself.
Now, instead of watching TV all the time, I actually choose to use my microscope. I even show my parents what I discover!
Using a microscope helped me:
- Enjoy science more
- Think more deeply
- Ask better questions
It made learning fun instead of boring. If you like discovering new things, I definitely recommend trying one. You can find cool microscopes and STEM kits for kids at Switched On Kids. Trust me—it’s way more interesting than TV!
