The RC Motorised robot

The RC robot is a DIY robot building set from Switched On Kids. It has many small parts that can be put together to make the remote-controlled robot. It has everything you will need apart from someone to make it. This set costs $79.95 and was a really fun experience.

This kit must be assembled and comes in many parts. It isn’t a hard build if you have got an hour or two to make it. It was built in stages. First, the motor frame, then the arms and main module, then the head and finally connecting it all together. The motor frame is easy, only two motors and a few pieces to hold them together. This is the base of the build, and everything is connected to here. The arms have their own frame and gear system. They run on the rotations of the motors and wiggle around while spinning. It is funny to watch the arms go up and down while looking like they are being twisted off. This creates a new frame on the base. The main modules are connected between the arms to use up the extra space. The head is connected to the arms by two rods which help it move its eyes randomly. The eyes also light up. The head is the final component before the wheel get their tracks. Once the wheels have tracks, the robot is ready to go! You can use the remote to move it around.

This robot can move around and wiggle its arms as well. It could be used to push small things around but has no other uses. Building this robot was awesome as I got to learn more about how gears work and the different types. This is one toy from the hundreds that Switched On Kids sells that definitely makes learning fun.
